Best Buy sells consumer electronics, computers, appliances and home entertainment. Codes are less central here than at a fashion retailer: the meaningful discounts come from weekly promotions, open-box pricing and the price-match policy, none of which involve a code field.

The price match is the single most useful mechanism. Best Buy will match a qualifying competitor price on an identical in-stock item, including during the return window on something you already bought. That routinely beats the percentage codes people spend time hunting for.

My Best Buy Plus and Total memberships change the calculation on large purchases: extended return windows and member-only pricing on the categories with the most price volatility. Open-box stock is excluded from most promotional codes but is frequently the better deal outright.

1. Click Get deal or Get code — Best Buy opens in a second tab.
2. Check whether the item is also available open-box before adding it to the cart.
3. Paste any code into the Promo code field at checkout.
4. If you find the same item cheaper elsewhere, request a price match instead — it usually beats the code.
